"WE HAVE A BREAKTHROUGH OPPORTUNITY TO REIMAGINE OUR MENTAL HEALTH SYSTEM FROM ONE THAT JUST PROVIDES TREATMENT TO ONE
THAT SUPPORTS A NEXT GENERATION OF YOUNG PEOPLE TO ADVANCE
RACIAL EQUITY IN OUR COMMUNITIES, AND HEAL OURSELVES IN THE PROCESS."
 – Meyiya Coleman

HEAR OUR VISION

We are a survivor-led community organization that works towards racial equity through our Healing Through Justice model. Through the process of building youth leadership to change systems, we create opportunities for individuals and our communities to heal from trauma. I saw at a young age how my community was impacted by gun violence and other systems with a long history of disinvestment. As a result, we have a breakthrough opportunity to reimagine our mental health system from one that just provides treatment to one that supports a next generation of young people to advance racial equity in our communities, and heal ourselves in the process.

Since being in Chicago and working with Communities United, it has been really inspiring to me to kind of see what they do in action on a daily basis. What we are doing is taking a natural process and yet making it very intentional so that at the outcome we are going to have healing individuals, healing families, and healing communities.
